Explore Cornwall by water on the Alice Rose

Meet Alice Rose. This elegant, 38‑foot gentleman's motor launch is reserved exclusively for the enjoyment of hotel guests. Elegant and stable, she is perfect for pleasure trips through Roseland's famously beautiful river landscapes – especially for families and first-time sailors.

Alice Rose is available for scheduled sailings as well as private charters on a half‑ or full‑day basis. With the hotel's coxswain and steward as hosts, guests can enjoy a comfortable and inspiring voyage through some of the region's most picturesque waterways. All trips include a freshly prepared, seasonal picnic lunch and return chauffeur transfers from the hotel.

Join a sailing and guests will embark on a river cruise between historic harbours and quiet coves, stopping for a delicious lunch along the way. Alternatively, a private charter offers complete freedom to explore by water, or to celebrate something special far from the hubbub of life on land. Either way, a whole new perspective on this very special coast awaits.

An adventure from river to sea

Scheduled sailings offer residents the opportunity to enjoy a relaxed day on the water alongside a small group of up to eight guests.

The voyage begins at Smugglers Cottage in Tolverne, where Alice Rose is moored. This is where General Eisenhower briefed American troops before the D-Day landings in 1944.

Slipping gently from the pontoon, follow the calm and picturesque River Fal before heading out into wider waters. Passing historic harbours and coastal villages, the journey continues into more secluded stretches. Here, guests can relax at anchor in a quiet cove and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings.

Dining on board

Scheduled sailings on the Alice Rose promise a true taste of the sea – in more ways than one.

During the cruise, guests stop for a delicious seafood luncheon, freshly prepared by The Nare's talented chefs. Like all the hotel's cuisine, it celebrates local produce and the freshest fruits of the sea. From fresh lobster to picnic classics such as Scotch eggs, five-star dining awaits upon turquoise blue waters.

It is quite the experience – dining on Cornish seafood amidst the tranquil waters of the Cornish coast. In a word: unforgettable.
