The best of Cornwall on the menu
Cornwall is the larder of England. This is a region where fields blanket the landscape, and one is never more than 15 miles from the sea. Cornish crops are especially nutritious, delicious and plentiful, nurtured by a uniquely mild, subtropical microclimate. Cornish seafood is routinely caught, cooked and served on the same day. And across the UK, the 'Cornish' label is considered a mark of true quality for beef, lamb, pork and poultry.
And right at the heart of it all is The Nare. With such a bounty on their doorstep, it makes sense that the hotel's talented chefs would make full use of all things local. For guests, it means dining on the best of Cornwall – cooked fresh, served fresh and shaped by generations of Cornish culinary tradition.
The Quarterdeck Restaurant
Menus at the Quarterdeck are guided by the season and the coast, with freshly caught local seafood at the heart of it all. It is so fresh and so local, in fact, that ingredients can be traced to their bay of origin, like Boscastle trout, chargrilled Falmouth Bay squid and creamy Porthilly oysters. All the fish served at the Quarterdeck is sourced from Wings of St Mawes.
The Nare are also proud supporters of the National Lobster Hatchery, contributing to their Buy One, Set One Free initiative. For every lobster purchased, The Quarterdeck donates £1 to help raise and release baby lobsters back into the local waters, ensuring the continuation of this cherished delicacy for future generations.
The meat and vegetarian options, too, are cooked with the finest seasonal ingredients sourced from local farms. That includes Cornish cheeses, Cornish potatoes and meltingly tender Cornish lamb.
The Dining Room
Even the views from the Dining Room are steeped in Cornish flavour, with large windows delivering a panoramic vista of sand, sea and ancient cliffs. The menu, too, is led by the land. Across five courses, enjoy the best of local meat, vegetables and seafood, including Portloe lobster, West Country cheeses and generous helpings of Cornish clotted cream.
Afternoon Tea
At The Nare, Afternoon Tea is a decadent, three-tiered event, serving what many consider the finest sandwiches, savouries and sweets in Cornwall.
Each tier celebrates Cornwall's local produce, with Cornish clotted cream headlining one of the Afternoon Teas' most iconic treats.
An elevated experience, The Nare champions Afternoon Tea as it was always intended to be.
Local wines
As well as classic and interesting wines from around the world, The Nare's extensive cellar includes several high-quality local wines. Many of Cornwall's vineyards are award-winning and owe much of their success to the region's unique subtropical microclimate.
