A climate all of Cornwall's own

For visitors, Cornwall promises a pleasantly mild microclimate quite unlike the rest of the United Kingdom. Here, at the most southwesterly tip of Great Britain, the warm currents of the Gulf Stream are felt most keenly. As a result, Cornwall's residents enjoy milder temperatures, all year round, and more hours of sunshine compared to their neighbours in the northeast.

This abundance of natural light is enhanced by Cornwall's peninsular geography, with sea meeting the land to the north, west and south. The light reflected by the sea bestows the Cornish landscape with a particular clarity – a quality much admired by local artists.

The Nare, with its prime coastal position on the unspoilt Roseland Peninsula, is perfectly situated to make the most of these uniquely Cornish characteristics.

The home of English wine  – and England's most glorious gardens

Cornwall's climate has more in common with its nearest French neighbour, Brittany, than the rest of the British Isles. And just as northwestern France is undergoing a winemaking renaissance, so too is Cornwall. The county is home to at least eight vineyards, some of which have gained high-profile recognition.

The Nare's wine list proudly includes Cornish wines from the Knightor and Camel Valley vineyards - both producing world class English sparkling wines.

Better known, however, are Cornwall's gardens. Here, sunnier climes usher in an earlier spring, with daffodils blooming as early as February – a good month earlier than elsewhere in Britain. This fertility is reflected in the glorious colour and character of Cornwall's Great Gardens. Famous far beyond the county boundaries, these 14 gardens are recognised worldwide as being among the United Kingdom's most beautiful, well-kept and historically important.

The Roseland Peninsula: Cornwall's most pleasant corner

The Nare makes its home on the Roseland Peninsula. This unspoiled corner of South Cornwall enjoys a particularly mild climate – even milder than the rest of the county. The subtropical conditions allow palm trees, agave plants and exotic flowers to flourish. You'll see many examples of these subtropical species in The Nare's own gardens, including an abundance of the scentless, yet eye-catching, Agapanthus.

These warmer conditions bring joy throughout the year, with Nare-gown daffodils garnishing the tables at Christmas

Treggothnan Tea, gown nearby with an exclusive Nare blend, thrives due to the climate. The tea can be sampled and savoured during the guests' daily cream tea.
