What is included in your stay

Staying at The Nare is an experience worth cherishing. It is a place of warmth, of character and of inimitable natural beauty – as far from the cookie-cutter corporate hotel experience as you can get. A place where friendly greetings feel genuine and every detail feels thoughtfully, perfectly placed.

Many of the hotel's nicest surprises are just that: surprises. However, to help you prepare for your holiday, here is a whistle-stop tour of what to expect.

When you arrive

For some guests, the sense of warm, genuine hospitality begins before they even arrive. If you are travelling by train or plane, you will be met at the station by a courtesy car and driven to the hotel without charge.

On arrival, the concierge team will welcome you at the front entrance and unload your luggage, taking it to your room and unpacking it if desired. Valet parking is also available for guests arriving in their own vehicle – complimentary, of course.

Now, your experience begins. Expect a quick check-in, a warm greeting and a hot drink – or something stronger if preferred. Staff will then take you on a tour of the hotel, after which you can head to your room to see what surprises are in store.

In your room

Every room at The Nare is individually decorated and carefully laid out to create a sense of cosy, traditional luxury. Here, you will find all the amenities expected of a five-star hotel, as well as a few thoughtful touches to make your stay even more comfortable.

All rooms enjoy views over Gerrans Bay or the Roseland countryside. Most are very spacious and feature private sea-view balconies or terraces. Each comes with comfortable armchairs, reading lights, books, flowers and – in winter – hot water bottles. Twenty-four-hour room service is available, of course, and every night a full valet and turndown service ensures that the sense of pristine comfort is maintained.

For those with additional accessibility needs, there are several rooms on the ground floor with walk-in showers, as well as a lift to the first floor. The hotel also maintains one wheelchair-accessible room with wet room washing facilities.

Country House Arrangements

To help you settle in and make the most of your stay, we have brought together some useful information about life at The Nare. From dining arrangements and daily routines to practical details about the hotel, you will find everything you need to know before and during your visit.

A treat for the afternoon

Every afternoon, The Nare lays on a cream tea with all the trimmings. This is a long-running and much-loved hotel tradition, and is included for all residents as part of their stay.

Served within the elegant drawing room, it's a welcome afternoon treat featuring everything you would expect from a classic Cornish cream tea. Think plump, warm, homemade scones, a selection of local jams and – the star ingredient – hearty helpings of Cornish clotted cream.

Places to belong

The Nare is your home from home beside the sea. Every inch of the hotel is carefully arranged and tastefully decorated to cultivate an atmosphere of cosy, familiar luxury.

As you explore, you will notice hand-picked antique furniture, bouquets of fresh flowers and scores of paintings and pictures on the walls. These are taken from former proprietor Bettye Gray's lifelong collection of modern artworks, many of which showcase an impressive range of well-known Cornish artists.

There are many comfortable spaces to relax, catch up with friends over a drink or simply enjoy the view. The drawing room and sitting room, for instance, both enjoy commanding views over the bay. Each is furnished with snoozy armchairs and sofas and, in winter, warmed by roaring log fires.

Generous hospitality

The Nare prides itself on the warm, genuine service of its staff. No matter the time of year or the hour of the day, there is always someone around to help make your experience more comfortable.

This is all part of the hotel's family feel and, indeed, its family philosophy. When Bettye Gray took ownership of The Nare in 1988, her vision was to create the most comfortable country house with exceptional service at its core. The hotel remains family-run and committed to this founding ethos.

Please do not hesitate to ask a member of staff for assistance, whether you want a light bite, a taxi booked or some local advice. The Front of House team is knowledgeable and passionate about this region, and will relish the chance to help plan and coordinate local excursions.
